Hey guys, I have owned a Hurricane for many years now and I am a big fan of this canoe, it works great for me. I have tried many different settings with the front and back Iako, what is recommended by the manufacturer?

I looked at the FAQ, and it basically says to play with it and see what you like.  Not really that satisfying.  I weigh 205, and rig the canoe side in the middle at 3, and the ama side at 5 in the front, and 3 or 4 in the back.

I go with 3 in flat water or when I’m surfing to the right.  If I’ll be surfing left a lot I go with 4.  The idea is that the wave lifts the ama if you surf left.  I don’t worry too much about the canoe side – I only made it adjustable because so many people asked for it.  I will rig it out farther in flat water, and closer in rough water because I control the ama much more when I’m surfing.

If you weigh less than I do you will want to drop the ama down some (lower number), and the opposite if you are heavier.
