Rudder Tempest loose

0

hi guys – just got my new Tempest OC2 delivered, super happy with it! Just a small glitch though…. during our paddle tonight the canoe suddenly became “rudderless”. We managed to make our way back safely as we were still pretty close to shore, but it definitely was a hassle. On shore we checked and discovered that basically the rudder wasnt moving along with our steering anymore. Is it as simple as the screw on top of the rudder nog being tightened enough or could it be something else? Obviously dont want this to happen again, especially when further out or in a race. Any tips on installing the rudder, please shout!

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about that. Can you please email support(at)outriggerzone.com so we can diagnose this better?

The rudders are removed for shipping and installed again by the distributor. The components should be checked carefully before delivery and tested before going out in the water.

Please contact me via the support desk so we can serve you more specifically.

To answer your question thou; once you tighten the screw it will not loosen again as it has a lock washer. In your case the rudder was never tightened all the way, which is why it did not operate as designed.
