Weight range for the Ehukai?

0

Just wondering what the weight range for the Ehukai is?  Can’t find anything on the web or your website.  I’m 5’10” and 89kgs (196 lbs) and will be using it predominately in the Ocean catching bumps.  Will it behave more like a Submarine?

Hey Mick,
I am 5 10 and 192 lbs I think you will fit really well in the Ehukai, I am very happy with the canoe in the bumps, it has nice acceleration and maneuverability. I feel it picks up the bump no matter how small super easy and jumps the swells in front nicely, in really short stuff the bow dips a little but all I do is lean back a little and it’s fine, I’ve had it on pretty windy, rough Hawaii Kai runs and I am faster in the Ehukai than on my Pueo, it really does have nice speed, If you have any questions feel free to contact me

Aloha Mick,

The Ehukai hull weighs about 19lbs, including all parts on the hull. As far as the ideal weight for water line, we will need to talk to Johnny Puakea, the canoe designer. At 196lbs I doubt there would be a problem for you in regards to water line.

Kai Wa’a Scorpius canoes are each designed for different size rider, so they will have this variable specification, however other canoes like the Ehukai have a different design plan and not tailored to a specific weight.

I will chat with Johnny and get back to you on this question.
